A New Dawn For Kashmir

So on August 5th, 2019 Aug Amit Shah came up with an unexpected surprise for everyone and that is scraping up of Article 370 and 35 A in Jammu and Kashmir. Let us look into the matter more closely.

Article 370 came into existence after a presidential order issued in 1954 along with Article 35. According to Article 370, the state of Jammu and Kashmir was given special status as compared to other states of India. This article was imposed for a temporary period but the constituent assembly of Jammu and Kashmir was however dissolved so it became a permanent feature of the Indian constitution. Then comes Article 35 according to which the people who are non-resident of Jammu and Kashmir could not acquire property in the state. This article discriminates against the people of other states. Both the articles have so many drawbacks and it was important to revoke it. We can imagine the loss these articles had done for the country for the past 7 decades. Now that it has been revoked people around the whole country are celebrating and welcoming this government step. Even most of the opposition are supporting this decision.

On 5th Aug 2019, Amit Shah declared that from now on these two Articles will have no effect on the Indian constitution. Apart from this, the government also divided the state into two Union Territories i.e. Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Ladakh are rejoicing as they were demanding separation from years.

How it happened :

Indian President, Ramnath Kovind issued an order for scraping up of 1954 order and make the Indian constitution applicable in Jammu and Kashmir too. This resolution was presented by Amit Shah in both the houses of parliament and it was passed by the majority. After this, the President called it inoperative and unconstitutional. Now only Article 370 (1) is in existence as it connects Kashmir to the whole India as per the Instrument of Accession.

After this decision now India has 28 states and 9 union territories earlier it was 29 states and 7 UTs. Now Kashmir is all set to eye new dawn. Its struggle from the past for so many decades has come to an end. It is now connected to India like all other states. With no restrictions and no special status, it will now move for development, progress, and prosperity. The entire country is with the people of the state. We all will fight together for the problems they are going through and help them to explore their culture more. So let’s make Kashmir again ‘The Heaven Of Earth’.
