Mayan Calendar says 21 June 2020 is the Doomsday!!

Mayan Calendar

We all have been dealing with catastrophes in the year 2020 over and over again. Starting from the bush fire in Australia to almost starting a war between the US and Iran. COVID-19 continues to take the lives of millions. Well, this is not all, the border tensions between India and China tend to increase at a steady pace. A civil war has been originated in Yemen. The protest against the Lebanon Government for the Economic Crisis is still on for the 2nd day. It has now come to notice that the world is going to end on coming Sunday, i.e., June 21st. Yes, you read it right. The researchers have claimed that the Mayan Calendar prediction for the world to end in 2012 was wrong. The new doomsday is going to be in the year 2020.

While the 21st of June is going to witness a solar eclipse as well. The eclipse will last for around 6 hours starting from 9:15 AM IST to 3:04 PM IST. It will be maximum at 12:10 noon IST. The solar eclipse can be seen from Asian and African countries and some parts of European countries.

History:

Mayan Calendar also called Maya Calendar is a system of Calendars used in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. It is based on the essential items used back then by all the people of the region. The calendar dated back in 5th Century BCE. Aspects like Zapotec and Olmec were included in the calendar until the contemporary one was released. After the release of the later ones, those were based on Mixtec and Aztec Calendar.

Maya Civilization

Well, the calendar has various cycles or counts and all are of the different length. Tzolkin is the 260-day long cycle known by the scholar. A 365-day solar year known as today was called Haab. The Calendar Round is the combination of Tzolkin and the Haab forming a synchronised cycle lasting for 52 Haab. Well, the solar year count during that time is considered vague. Although the Calendar Round is still in use by many groups in Guatemalan Highlands.

Long Count, for this a different calendar was used to track a longer period of time and inscription of calendar dates. A lot of Maya Long Count inscriptions contain a secondary series, which provides information on the lunar phase, number of the current lunation in a series of six and which of the nine Lords of the Night rules.

2012 predictions explained

2012 and its Theories:

The December 21st, 2012 was remarked as the doomsday which stated that it was the last day of our existence. The scientists counted the days back and found that August 11th, 3114 BCE was the day remarked as the starting point of the Maya Calendar. Hollywood even created a movie based on it and how the world would be ending. Indeed, nothing occurred on December 21st, 2012 and the world was left as it was. Rather, what occurred was, the Mayan Calendar was reset again, i.e., its 13 Bak’tun ended on the very day.

Throughout the year, 2012 was the topic of discussion for the worldwide media. There were various other theories which were flooding the internet and YouTube. The Discovery Channel was also criticized for its “Quasi Documentaries”. Some people interpreted the galactic alignment apocalyptically. Thus claiming that its occurrence would somehow create a combined gravitational effect between the sun and the supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy. Another theory was involving the geomagnetic reversal, i.e., shifting of poles from the proponents. It was said that there was a possibility of massive solar fire. The fire would release energy equivalent to 100 billion atom bombs. This was the supporting statement for the weakening of poles. There were theories that there will be an Alien Invasion in the year 2012.

New Mayan Calendar: Why June 21st Is Important?

Well, a new theory is proposed by the scientist Paolo Talaoguin. According to this theory, the Earth is going to end on the very date. It is said that as per the Julian Calendar we are living in 2012 and not in 2020. The theory also states that the previous theory was false. According to the new theory, it took eight years of transition from Julian to Georgian Calendar.

The scientist tweeted, now deleted, and fumed the internet showing how eight years were lost and the whole mathematics, which is, the number of days lost in a year due to the shift into Gregorian Calendar is 11 days. For 268 years using the Gregorian Calendar (1752-2020) times 11 days = 2,948 days. 2,948 days / 365 days (per year) = 8 years”.

December 21, 2012 = June 21, 2020. So, believing calculations done by the scientist, Earth will be destroyed on June 21, 2020.

Reaction of People:

Well as soon as it was released, it took the internet by storm. People started being paranoid. As everyone is aware that from the starting of the year evil things are happening all around the world. Although the CEO of the Dubai Astronomy Group, Hasan Al Hariri has said that it is a hoax and people shouldn’t be believing in it. As of now, we have to wait and see what actually lies in nature’s will.
