On September 19 the Indian Premier League finally started. After a lot of hue and cry, the day had finally arrived when the biggest tournament of the country started. The league which was scheduled to take place in April this year was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Board Of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) made it possible to bring smiles on millions of cricket fans by scheduling it in September far away from the country in the United Arab Emirates. India, a country where cricket is treated more than just a game, and IPL as the annual festival. The Arch-Rivalry: MI vs CSK It was a big day and the first match is between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Mumbai Indians who have not lost a single match against CSK last year were looking ahead for a 5-0 win. On the other hand, Chennai, who was looking to make a comeback with a win against Mumbai and also they have not forgotten how Mumbai snatched a 1 run win from Chennai's mouth in last year's finale. Further Mumbai has captain Rohit Sharma who is famously known as "HIT-MAN" because when he gets going, nothing is unstoppable. On the other hand, we have our legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni, "CAPTAIN COOL" who is returning to the cricket ground after 437 days. He last played his match against IND vs NZ in WC 2019 semi-finale. Dhoni who has retired from International Cricket on 15th of August this year is all set to make a comeback in IPL 2020. TOSS The Toss between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings happened at 7.00 PM (IST). The toss was won by the Chennai Super Kings Which decided to bowl first. MI Playing XI Rohit Sharma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Saurabh Tiwary, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah CSK Playing XI Murali Vijay, Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Lungi Ngidi With no Suresh Raina, Harbajan Singh, or Dwayne Bravo on the playing 11, the CSK team looked weak but with a lot of experience. Wherein Mumbai Indians have a pretty strong side with power hitters like Rohit, Hardik, and Pollard and Bumrah with the ball. Tribute to Front-line Heroes Before the match was about to begin, both the teams stood in a queue to honor our frontline heroes, the doctors, the policemen, the nurses, the ward boys, and many more who sacrificed their lives to save human life. At the time when the whole world is suffering through a pandemic, these frontline heroes are working relentlessly day and night. 1st Innings As CSK won the toss, they decided to bowl first. Surely, Rohit Sharma along with Quinton De Kock was going to be opening from their side. The very first ball Rohit faced was to the boundary for four in the square. Soon, both the openers started to pace up the scoreboard until the leg spinner Piyush Chawla came to ball. In the 4th over, when Rohit was facing the leg spinner, Rohit chipped off the ball in the hands of Sam Curran and it was a soft dismissal. Soon after, De Kock got out by Sam Curran giving the easy catch to Shane Watson at mid-wicket. After both, the openers back in the pavilion Surya Kumar Yadav and Saurabh Timary paced up the scoreboard for the Mumbai Indians. After scoring a handful of 17 runs, Suryakumar Yadav gave away an easy wicket to Deepak Chahar in the 11th over. Not timing the ball perfectly for six over long-on Yadav gave away caught in the hands of Sam Curran, it was an easy dismissal. Hardik Pandya was next to come, as soon as he came, he went on to hit 2 continuous sixes in 2 balls in Jadeja's over. In the very first ball of the 14th over Saurabh Tiwary got out scoring 42 from 31 balls and by the end of the over Jadeja took the wicket of Pandya as well dismissing him on the low score of 14 runs in just 10 balls. On the 16th and 18th over, Lungi Nidgi went on to take 3 wickets of Krunal Pandya, Pollard, and Pattinson respectively, restricting the score of Mumbai Indians to 162/9. 2nd Innings In the second innings, the pace of MI was lead by Trent Boult. In the fifth ball of the very first over Shane Watson Hit the ball for four and in the very the next ball he was LBW by Boult. In the next over, Pattinson took the wicket of Murli Vijay keeping CSK in the back foot. On the crease were, Ambati Raydu and Faf du Plessis, and the score of CSK was 6/2. Slowly and steadily both the batsmen started getting to set. The started to attack the main bowlers of MI like Bumrah for big hits and knocking off-spin bowlers like Rahul Chahar for singles and doubles. In the 11th over, Rayudu took a single to complete its half-century. At the end of the 16th over, Rayudu got out by Rahul Chahar scoring a huge score of 77 runs. The partnership pf Rayudu and Faf of 105 runs was broken then. Tough it was speculations that MS would come on the crease but, it did not happen what the CSK fans thought. Dhoni went on to send Jadeja ahead of him and Jadhav. Soon after Jadeja was out and yet, Dhoni didn't arrive on the crease. Well, fans were not expecting this, Dhoni sent in Sam Curran to smash sixes and Curran did his fine job of scoring of 18 runs of just 6 balls. Now when Curran got out, it was finally the time for the LION to come on the ground. MSD was on crease. The first ball he faced was caught behind by the keeper; the umpire also gave him out. Dhoni quickly took the DRS review, and after review, it was not out. In the last over Faf hit the ball for four making a comfortable win for the Chennai Super Kings. After winning the match, player of the match was awarded to Ambati Rayudu. Dhoni registered 100th win as a captain for CSK and he took the 100th catch for the CSK in IPL.
