While the world is struggling to figure out a way to control the rapid spread of Covid-19, precautionary methods are all we had at hand. Many countries have been trying to figure out a vaccine for Coronavirus disease and failed. After a series of bad news, Russia turns out to be the one with a good news for the world. Russians are all set to register the world’s first vaccine for Covid-19 on 12th August.
The Gamaleya Research Institute and the Russian Defense Ministry have jointly developed the vaccine and the clinical trials had already begun on June 18. The trials are going on in Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital and the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. All the volunteers for the trails gained immunity. The first group was discharged on July 15 and the second on July 20. The third stage trial of the vaccine has been initiated and the vaccine will be registered on August 12. Reports suggest that after the registration process, the vaccine will be tested on 1,600 people to ensure that it’s safe and effective. Russia plans to begin mass production of the vaccine from October 2020.
“The trials are extremely important. We have to understand that the vaccine must be safe. Medical professionals and senior citizens will be the first to get vaccinated,” said Deputy Health Minister Oleg Gridnev. Maybe the wait is over at last!
